Role of Ashvamedha Yagya in Nation Building

Abstract

Ahsvamedha Yagya has been one of the most ancient as well as one of the most successful tools of nation-building and expansion. Ashvamedha is a multi-faceted ritual which not only was performed to expand a kingdom but also to instil unity and peace among the people, the use of the term ‘Nation-Building’ in this study highlights its other roles as well. This article tries to navigate and explore the role played by Ashvamedha Yagya in the complex process of nation-building.
