A Comparative Study of the Attitude of Higher Secondary School Students of U.P. Board and CBSE Board Towards Physical Education

Abstract

In modern age, technology dependent life of students keeps them away from games and physical activities. The purpose of this study is to investigate and compare the attitude of higher secondary school students of both U.P. and CBSE Board towards physical education. The research methodology involves descriptive survey method using purposive sampling technique. In this study total 100 students of class 12th (50 of U.P. Board and 50 of CBSE Board) are selected. Again, out of 50 students 25 male and 25 female students are selected from each board respectively. The tool used in this study is ‘Attitude scale to measure attitude of people towards physical education,’ constructed and standardized by Dr. G.P. Thakur & Manju Thakur. The findings of the study indicated a similarity between the attitude of higher secondary male students of both U.P. and CBSE Board towards physical education and vice versa in case of female students. Further, it indicated dissimilarity between the attitude of higher secondary students of both U.P. and CBSE Board. The outcomes of this study highlight the need of gender specific planning and its execution to achieve the goal related to physical education. Ultimately, this study aims to contribute to the repository of knowledge on higher secondary school student’s attitude towards physical education offering valuable insight.
