A Comparative Study of Learning Environment at Senior Secondary Level

Abstract

In the present study, the researcher aims to study the learning environment among students at senior secondary level. Learning environment is a set-up which is crucial for learner’s academic achievement. A better learning environment continuously motivates the students to do better in their academic performance. In the present study, comparative survey method of descriptive research was used as a research methodology. The population of the study is the student of class 12th from Prayagraj District of Uttar Pradesh. A sample size of 60 (Boys-20, Girls-40) senior secondary students selected from science and humanities stream (30 students each stream, Girls-20, Boys-10) from Government School of CBSE Board. A self-made tool to assess Learning Environment was made by the researcher to collect the data. The tool contains 100 statements related to learning environment on 5 rating scale. The data was analyzed by using T-test. The result shows no significant difference exist in the learning environment between science and humanities stream. Boys' students of science and humanities stream as well as girl's students of science and humanities stream do not differ significantly in their learning environment at senior secondary level. Findings also revealed that in overall boys and girls differ significantly in their learning environment. Both boys and girls show significant difference in their learning environment when compared stream wise i.e. science (boys and girls) and humanities (boys and girls) at senior secondary level.
